On Saturday July 29th, Heritage Days celebration will return to Packwaukee’s Washington Square Park. There will be many activities taking place throughout the day including a gun raffle, bucket raffles, food and beverages, a bags and volleyball tournament, free inflatable rides and other activities for the kids.

This past week the Marquette County Tribune’s (MCT) long-time editor, manager, salesperson and wearer of many hats, Mary Faltz, retired after 43 years of working for the newspaper. If you are under 50 you probably don’t remember anyone other than Mary being in charge of the MCT. The MCT has been in existence in one form or another since 1859.
Forty-three years is a long time. Forty years ago, the Commodore computer with 64 kilobytes of memory was the machine to have. Diet Coke hit the shelves for the first time. Inflation was peaking at 14.6% and Olivia Newton-John was getting physical.
Montello will celebrate Independence Day in grand style with a giant fireworks display at dusk on Monday, July 3rd. The fun event takes place at Montello City Park on Doty Street.
The Marquette County Fair returns in 2023 with all kinds of fun and entertainment for the whole family, running July 6-9. The fair takes place on the county fairgrounds in Westfield. This year’s theme is “Barn in the U.S.A.!” Here are some of the highlights, in addition to all the judged exhibits and animals:
Chicken Chew this year will be a tribute to a small village that produces a great festival. The 51st Anniversary of Chicken Chew will be June 23, 24, and 25 with lots of activities for everyone in the family. There will be tons of activities all three days of the event.
Dedication of the new Marquette Park on the Mont L’eau River has been postponed. Scheduled for Saturday, June 24, the dedication will take place later this summer.
