On Saturday, February 18th, the Oxford Lions Club will hold their 68th Annual Fisheree at the Oxford Mill Pond. For over six decades this has been a must-do event on the third Saturday in February. This year’s event will be much like past years with fishing and fun on the ice. The Oxford Lions Club Fisheree is one of the oldest continuous events of its kind in the state.
Raffle tickets for cash prizes are available from any Oxford Lions Club member. The Oxford Pub-n-Grub will have some great food and refreshments available for purchase. The Fisheree begins at 9:00 a.m. and will conclude at 3:00 p.m. with the awarding of fish prizes, and with the drawing of raffle prize winners. There will also be hourly fish prizes for each species. A special event this year is a kids’ fishing tournament, running from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.!
The Fisheree is the largest fundraiser for the Oxford Lions Club each year. Proceeds from this event help the club to fund their community activities and assistance to worthy causes locally and across the state.
**In the event of unsafe ice conditions, the event may be held at Oxford Pub ‘N Grub, located at 848 E. Ormsby St. in Oxford. Participants may fish at alternate locations of their choice if this happens. The date to determine ice conditions will be Thursday, February 16th. Call or text Steve on or after that date with inquiries at: 608-547-6115.
