Endeavor/Moundville Fire Dept. receives grant from the Gary Sinise Foundation

In June 2021, the Endeavor/Moundville Fire Department was notified that they have been awarded a grant from the Gary Sinise Foundation to purchase vehicle rescue equipment. The grant, totaling almost $9,000, was used to purchase four Rescue 42 Stabilizing Struts and four Rescue 42 Shark Junior Stabilizing step chalks. These pieces of equipment are used to safely stabilize a vehicle that has been involved in an accident so responders can safely extricate victims that may be trapped inside. As well as the Stabilizing struts and step chalks, the Endeavor/Moundville Fire Department was also able to purchase a device called “The Ripper,” which attaches to an impact drill and is used to cut through tempered glass on a vehicle. From the Gary Sinise Foundation website, they describe their mission as, “An organization that serves our nation by honoring our defenders, veterans, first responders, their families, and those in need. They do this by creating and supporting unique programs designed to entertain, educate, inspire, strengthen, and build communities.” The Endeavor/Moundville Fire Department is very honored to receive this grant and thanked the Gary Sinise Foundation very much for its generous support to help build the fire department’s rescue capabilities.
