Montello Independence Day Celebration
Montello will celebrate Independence Day in grand style with a giant fireworks display at dusk on Monday, July 3rd. The fun event takes place at Montello City Park on Doty Street.
Come early to watch Little League games during the evening. The fun starts at 3 p.m. with the “Anything But a Bat & Glove Game.” At 6:00 and 7:00 there will be games with local 12U kids vs. Rio teams. The organization will have beer, food, water and snacks available for purchase. The Montello Lions will also be on hand during the evening with popcorn, water, and glow novelties for sale.
Fireworks are presented by major sponsors: Montello Area Chamber of Commerce, Montello Rotary Club, City of Montello, Lake Arrowhead Campground, Metta Homes & Metta Grading, Montello Lions Club, Northside Automotive, Yahooz Sports Bar & Grill, along with many other community businesses and citizens.
Oxford celebrates Independence Day with weekend of fun!
It takes three days to pack in all the fun of an Oxford Independence Day celebration! This year’s event takes place at Oxford Village Park from Thursday to Saturday, June 29th, June 30th, and July 1st.
The fun opens on Thursday with the start of the men’s softball tournament. The Oxford Fire Department food stand opens at 5:00 p.m., along with the Oxford Lions Club beer tent. At 6:00 p.m., enjoy an ice cream social presented by the Oxford Neighborhood Watch.
On Friday evening, the softball tournament continues, you can enjoy beverages at the Lions Beer Tent, and the Fire Department opens their food stand at 5:00 p.m. The carnival will also be open for rides and the midway.
The Oxford Fire Department and the Oxford Lions Club are pleased to welcome Nashville recording artist Jenna Jane to this year's Oxford 4th of July Celebration! Jenna and her band will be performing on Friday from 7-11 p.m. in the park. Jenna is an Oxford native and a graduate of Westfield Area High School.
Jenna's popularity continues to rise. She has been nominated for the Wisconsin Area Music Industry award for Female Vocalist of the Year and the Josie Music Awards Female Rising Star of the Year, which is given at an awards ceremony at the Famous Grand Ole Opry.
Jenna has performed at the famous Bluebird Café in Nashville and has opened for several famous country and rock acts. Come out and party and enjoy some great country music! This concert is sponsored by The Minnow Bucket Bait & Tackle and Marquette-Adams Telephone Cooperative.
Saturday, the celebration reaches its height with activities all day, leading up to a giant fireworks display at 10 p.m. The food stand and beer tent will be open all day and evening. The carnival will also be open for rides and the midway.
The men’s softball tournament continues all day long, and there will also be a volleyball tournament starting at 9:00 a.m. For information on registering a softball or volleyball team, contact Lindzay Daye at 608-697-9738.
The Kiddie Parade also returns on Saturday morning. Bring your bikes, your wagons or just yourself! Decorating starts at 9:00 a.m. downtown at Driscoll Park. The Kiddie Parade over to the park will start at 10:00 a.m.
Bring the kids for the annual Junior Olympics games beginning at 11 a.m., with pre-registration (required) at 10:30 a.m. Meet in the park under the flagpole.
Try your skills in the bag toss tournament that starts at noon. Registration is at 11 a.m. (required). If you want to learn more, contact Fay Lloyd at 608-333-4583.
Stake out your favorite spot in the park for the 10 p.m. fireworks, then stay for two large cash raffles. Tickets will be on sale on the grounds.
This event is sponsored by the Oxford Fire Department and Oxford Lions Club, who will be on hand all three days with food and refreshments. Come enjoy the holiday and support Oxford’s worthy organizations with lots to do at the Oxford Village Park!
Harrisville has big plans for July 4th
The little town of Harrisville plans another big celebration for the 4th of July again this year!
The day will start off with their parade through Harrisville at 11 a.m., ending at the Sportsmen’s Club.
After the parade, be sure to stop by the Sportsmen’s Club for a delicious BBQ chicken dinner. Serving will be from 12 noon until 3pm, or when it’s gone.
There will be truck and tractor pulls all day, also starting at 11 a.m., with weigh-ins from 9:00 to 10:30. The pulls are sponsored by the Harris Vol. Fire Dept. and are free for spectators.
You can end the day with fireworks over Harris Pond, starting at dusk. The celebration is sponsored by the Harrisville Sportsmen’s Club.
Community of Saints Parish will be providing free root beer floats and bottled water immediately prior to the fireworks display that evening, near Harris Pond.
The Community of Saints Parish is comprised of the congregations of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Harrisville, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Crystal Lake, and St. Peter’s Lutheran Church of Richford. Financial assistance was provided by Kwik Trip. Donations given during this event will be given to Marquette County Veterans.
