Germania Benefit event takes place Saturday, April 29th

Germania will be the hub of all things fun this Saturday, as the community will host their 28th Annual Parade & Benefit event.

Activities run from 9 a.m. to midnight, starting with a 5K run/walk at 9 a.m. Registration information is available at the Longbranch Saloon.

There’s also a bake sale, barbecue pork loin dinners plus sandwiches, brats and hot dogs, and a parade that begins at 1:00 p.m. Enter the parade for your chance to win cash prizes!

At the parade, watch for the candidates for this year’s “Unofficial Official.” Each year, attendees at the event choose some sort of unofficial official – everything from mayor, justice of the peace, fire chief, professor, fire hydrant painter, tick inspector – well, you get the idea. This year’s competition will be for “Nurse of Germania.” Vote for your favorite candidate(s) by dropping dollars in the jars for each candidate.

It’s all in great fun and raises money for the event host, the Germania Community Development Association, a local charity organization and raises money to help serve area residents with medical and other needs.

Stick around for silent and regular auctions – silent auction bidding opens at 11:00 a.m. and the regular auction takes the floor at 3:00 p.m. Donations of items for either auction can be brought to the Longbranch Saloon up until 11:00 a.m. the day of the event.

There’s also music, raffles and more fun all day and evening long. The benefit headquarters is the Longbranch Saloon in beautiful downtown Germania. See their ad for more details, visit their website at: www.germanialongbranchsaloon.com, or the Longbranch Saloon Facebook page!
