Montello High School Class of 2023 to graduate on Saturday

The Montello High School Class of 2023 will take part in their graduation ceremony this Saturday, May 27th, beginning at 2:00 p.m. in the high school varsity gym.

The class is led by Valedictorian Addisyn Urbaniak and Salutatorian Josey Gilbertson.

High Honor graduated include Josey Gilbertson, Addisyn Urbaniak, and Elizabeth Urbaniak. Honor Graduates are Margaret Gulbranson, Sofia Jeisy, Emma Krentz, Alexis Mehling, Lily Pierce, Kadence Raasch, Joshua Schwochert, Abigale Stibbe and Nyomi Wittstruck.

Class Officers include President Addisyn Urbaniak, Vice President Elizabeth Urbaniak, Secretary Matthew Walters, and Treasurer Spencer Whaley. Student Council Representatives are Kadence Raasch and Josey Gilbertson.

The class has chosen the motto, “Believe in the promise of tomorrow, but live this day to the fullest.”

Class Colors are black and purple; the Class Flower is the white carnation; the Class Song is “Where’d all the Time Go?” by Dr. Dog.

Scholarship and Academic Awards Night was held on May 17th, with a long list of scholarships awarded to members of the class, along with academic and extracurricular honors. See our special 2023 Area High School Graduation Guide section in this week’s Tribune for the complete list.

Valedictorian Addisyn Urbaniak is the daughter of Ron and Lora Urbaniak. She has been very active in academic and extracurricular endeavors for the past four years! Addisyn is a member of the National Honor Society and was selected as its president this year. She participated in the Academic Bowl all four years and was captain this year. She made High Honor Roll all four years and earned her foreign language cord for completing Spanish I and II.

Addisyn was also class president and member of Student Council all four years, currently serving as Student Council President. She is the Senior School Board Member this year, selected to represent the entire student body.

She has been in Mixed and Chamber Choirs for four years, along with Solo & Ensemble. Addisyn was in the Madrigal Performance Group two years and Honors Choir one year.

She also participated in school musicals and plays for four years, being chorus captain two years. Athletics saw her in volleyball four years, voted MVP by the team along with two years of basketball and one year of softball. She has been a member of Teen Court for four years, along with Yearbook developer/editor. Addisyn participated in Forensics one year.

She planned and coordinated two blood drives, helped plan and organize Marquette County’s Family Adventure Day, assisted in teaching a babysitting class, and was voted Prom Queen by her junior class.

Addisyn summed up her four years at MHS saying, “My biggest accomplishment in high school is my engagement in student life, and the memories and friendships I have made along the way that will make high school unforgettable. I would really like to thank my family for their constant support and love. I would also like to thank MHS for all the opportunities and experiences that were given to me.” She will go on to attend UW-Madison to study Health Equity and Promotion.

Salutatorian Josey Gilbertson is the daughter of Jeff and Angie Gilbertson. Her accomplishments at Montello High School include many activities as well!

Josey has been a member of National Honor Society for two years. She also is on Student Council, participated in Academic Bowl, and has been a member of the Yearbook Committee.

Her extracurricular endeavors have seen her busy participating in four MHS musicals/plays during her high school career.

Josey also had the honor of having her entry picked as the 2022 Montello Fish N Fun button logo! She has also volunteered as St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Montello.

Josey has also made lots of contributions to the community through her involvement in Montello Girl Scout Troop #6343 since 2014! She reports, “We've helped with food pantries/food drives, clean up litter at parks, volunteered at nursing homes, hosted annual Halloween dances for kids, hosted and participated in Christmas parades, volunteered at many local events, and so much more.”

After graduation, Josey is attending Fox Valley Technical College this fall for general studies.
