Barn fire reported in Springfield Township

On Sunday morning, March 6, 2022, at 4:40 AM, the Marquette County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call regarding a barn fire in Springfield Township. Fire departments from Springfield, Village of Westfield, Harris and Newton were all paged, along with Marquette County EMS and Sheriff’s deputies. Sheriff Joe Konrath reported that it appears lightning could have been a cause of the fire, as a tree near the barn was found to have been struck by lightning.  Storm weather passed through the area for a good part of the night, Saturday to Sunday.
