After a week of different area eating places hosting benefits for the area food pantries, the Bowls for Hunger Restaurant Week has been deemed a success.
The combined effort of five restaurants and one grocery have netted $4,000. That, combined with generous donations and the big bowl raffle this year, has raised over $7,000.
Participating restaurants included Mikey’s Sportsmen’s Tavern, Crossroads Chateau between Montello and Westfield, Frannie May’s in Oxford, Becky’s Sugar Shack in Adams, and Oyster Crackers in Montello.
The food was varied and delicious. Businesses pledged all or much of their revenue for the day to the food pantries. Harvest Market in Oxford sold a large number of the Westfield Area High School students’ handmade bowls in their food market. The big bowl raffle was successful. A list of area individuals and businesses that provided generous donations is listed below. The “Bowls” committee thanked everyone who participated and would also like to thank the Marquette Tribune for supporting this cause over these many years.
Over $7,700 dollars will be sent to area food pantries after this year’s effort. Jeff Napp of the Westfield Area High School Art Department stated, “We are really excited about the possibility of expanding ‘Bowls Restaurant Week’ to more restaurants. We hope area eateries keep this in mind for next year.”
The committee also expressed thanks to these generous monetary donors that help to make this event successful each year:
