Emma Hamilton of Westfield has been named the 2023 Marquette County Fairest of the Fair.
Hamilton, 18, the daughter of Patrick and Tammy Hamilton of Westfield, recently graduated from Westfield Area High School and will be attending Kansas State University in the fall. She is pursuing degrees in Entomology and Plant Biotechnology. She is the treasurer for the high school Spanish Club, president of the Going Green Club, and president of Russel Flats 4H Club.
Hamilton has shown poultry at the Marquette County Fair since she was a young child, along with numerous other projects. Her favorite part of the Marquette County Fair is the Youth Meat Animal Auction, for which she says it is nice to see the community come together to support area youth with their projects.
Hamilton’s other hobbies include bee keeping, competitive dance, and playing a variety of musical instruments.
Hamilton currently works for the University of Wisconsin – Madison as a summer research assistant in the departments of entomology and plant pathology, conducting trials and gathering data on new pesticides.
Hamilton was crowned by Halie Maier, the 2021 Marquette County Fairest of the Fair. When looking back on her year as Fairest, Maier said she enjoyed meeting other people with similar interests in agriculture and has gained many friends through the Fairest Program.
Marquette County’s Fairest of the Fair 2023, Emma Hamilton, invites everyone to come to the Marquette County Fair July 6th-9th, 2023, held in Westfield, WI. Major events include Bull Riding, Tractor Pulls, and Horse Pulls. Come enjoy Nick’s Kid Show, axe throwing and so much more!
