Marquette County Sheriff's Office Arrests Suspect in Sexual Assault Case

On the evening of February 25, 2025, the Marquette County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of an assault in the Village of Westfield. Deputies met with the victim, who stated that she had been communicating online with a white male, described as having curly brown hair. She had planned to meet him at Pioneer Park in Westfield that evening. While waiting in her vehicle at the park, the victim reported that a black male approached her vehicle. When she asked if he needed help, the male claimed to be the person she had been talking to online. As the victim attempted to close her car door, the suspect forcibly entered the vehicle, threatened her with a gun, and sexually assaulted her. Following the assault, the victim was able to drive to the nearby Mobil gas station to seek assistance, where she met with deputies. The victim’s phone was missing after the suspect exited her vehicle. Based on the description of the vehicle provided by the victim, deputies were able to locate the vehicle on a nearby Flock camera. The footage allowed law enforcement to gather information that led to a potential suspect. Marquette County Sheriff’s Office detectives traveled to the City of Madison. During an interview with the suspect, he admitted to traveling to Westfield that day to meet the victim. He also confessed to creating a fake online profile to increase his chances of matching with females.

A search warrant was executed for the suspect's residence and vehicle, where law enforcement found a firearm that matched the description given by the victim. The suspect has been arrested in connection with the sexual assault. Robert Anderson is being charged with First Degree Sexual Assault, Armed Robbery with use of a Dangerous Weapon, and False Imprisonment with use of a Dangerous Weapon. His cash bond has been set at $500,000, reflecting the seriousness of the charges. The Marquette County Sheriff's Office is continuing to investigate the incident.
