State Representative Jon Plumer visited Endeavor-Moundville Fire Department last week to present Mike Carlton a plaque from the Wisconsin State Legislature recognizing his efforts to save Arnie Schehr from a house fire at his home on County Rd. CX.
The plaque read that on January 3, Arnie Schehr in the Town of Moundville experienced a devastating house fire while he was sleeping. Mike Carlton Of Oxford was driving by and saw the fire. He pounded on the front door, waking Arnie and facilitating his escape. Arnie left the house barefoot with only his clothes and his dog. The Endeavour-Moundville Fire Department recognized Mike as a hero, knowing that his selfless actions saved Arnie’s life.
The plaque was signed by Representative Jon Plumer, Representative Alex Dallman, Speaker Robin Vos, and Speaker Pro Tempore Kevin Petersen.
Plumer congratulated Carlton for his actions and said that the plaque was registered for history in the Capitol and would forever remain there. Family members from both Schehr and Carlton were both in attendance at the March 13th ceremony to celebrate Carlton’s heroism.
