Westfield Area Middle and High School Principal David Moody was honored by the Department of Defense for Patriotic Support.
The Wisconsin Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense (DoD) office, announced that David Moody, Principal of the Westfield Middle and High School located in Westfield was honored on March 22nd with a Patriot Award in recognition of his extraordinary support of his employee, Staff Sergeant Steven Jones serving in the Wisconsin Army National Guard.
“The Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees, who like the citizen warriors before them, have answered their nation’s call to serve,” said Scott Legwold, Wisconsin ESGR state chairman.
David Moody was nominated for being highly supportive of the Wisconsin Army National Guard by Sergeant Jones. Supportive supervisors are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s Guard and reserve units. Sergeant Jones said of David Moody, “Dave Moody is the most supportive and pro-military boss I have ever worked under. Dave consistently acknowledges his military connected staff through word and deed. His Veteran’s Day Ceremony has to be one of the best in the state. From allowing recruiting during lunch periods and the Armed Forces Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) testing opportunities for the students, Dave epitomizes civilian support for the military. Westfield is lucky to have him at the helm and he deserves to be recognized for his efforts.”
ESGR, a DoD office, seeks to foster a culture in which all employees support and value the employment and military service of members of the National Guard and Reserve in the United States.
ESGR facilitates and promotes a cooperative culture of employer support for National Guard and Reserve service by developing and advocating mutually beneficial initiatives, recognizing outstanding employer support, increasing awareness of applicable laws and policies, resolving potential conflicts between employers and their service members, and acting as the employer’s principal advocate within DoD. Paramount to ESGR’s mission is encouraging employment of Guardsmen and reservists who bring integrity, global perspective and proven leadership to the civilian workforce.
