Phyllis Farrell, of Dalton, celebrated her 100th birthday on September 3. She celebrated with a party the next day surrounded by her family and friends. Her life is centered around her faith and leads her life by example. She loves telling stories about the past, discussing politics and drinking a good brandy old-fashioned!

The Marquette County Human Services Committee met on September 12th, hearing budget proposals from Veterans Services and the general department.

In an interview for the Marquette County Tribune in 2005, just two years after Dave and Dawn Anderson bought the Montello Movie Theater, Dawn said, “We knew nothing about the business.  We had to learn the equipment, how to book movies, everything about it.  But the previous owners were very helpful and stayed with us until we learned it all.”

The Westfield Area Chamber of Commerce is bringing a brand-new event to town this weekend, September 16th and 17th: Pioneer Fest, sponsored by Brakebush Brothers, Inc.

Local artist, Steve Lentz from Montello recently won the National Straw sculpting title for 2022. This event is held in Mt. Morris, IL.

The Jack and Roberta Johnston memorial rummage sale recently raised over $6,000 for three local causes.  The Briggsville Fire Department, Marquette County EMT, Inc., and the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office K9 program were the recipients of $2,250 each from the estate rummage sell held by the Johnston family.

When students return to Westfield Elementary this year they will be greeted by a new principal with a familiar face. Current staff member Julie Lynch is stepping up to take over the role and has big plans for students and staff this year.

Get ready for the 61st annual Harrisville Bratfest on Sunday, September 4th. This annual event benefits the Harris Fire Department and takes the efforts of everyone in the Town of Harris to be the success it always is.

The Village of Westfield Fire Department is again hosting their annual chicken barbeque.  The 65th annual BBQ will be held on the Saturday before Labor Day, September 3rd, at Westfield Pioneer Park.  The village firemen and spouses have traditionally put out an exceptional chicken dinner and provide a full day of fun for the public.

The Montello Lions Club presented a $1,000 check to the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office for their K-9 program.  Lion President Sharon Foley said that the money was raised at the annual fisheree.  Sheriff Konrath said that they are thankful for all donations made to the Sheriff’s office.  Plans are being made to purchase another K-9 to replace
