The Marquette County Property Committee met on May 27th for an emergency meeting on the sallyport project and bid. Buildings and Grounds Superintendent Paul Van Treeck reported that they had opened bids for the project and the base bid came back at $2,382,016, which is $700,000 above their projections.

To invest in Wisconsin’s transportation system, Gov. Tony Evers has signed a $15.27 million contract with prime contractor Rock Road Cos., Inc.

The Marquette County Chapter of the Ice Age Trail continues to work with the National Park Service, the Ice Age Trail Alliance and the DNR to complete the Corridor Plan and Environmental Assessment for Marquette County.  It is near completion and that means the general direction of the trail through the county has been decided upon and approved.

Pioneer High Jumper Tommy Huff received a special fire truck ride around Westfield last Wednesday to celebrate his trip to the WIAA State Track Meet in La Crosse last weekend. Huff qualified for State with a 6’2” jump at Sectionals on May 26th.

Dairylicious Day 2022 returns to Westfield on Saturday, June 11th, for a day of fun including a parade, live music by Cherry Pie, and lots more! 

The Class of 2022 at High Marq Environmental Charter School in Montello will take part in graduation exercises on Saturday, June 4th, beginning at 10:00 a.m. The ceremony will take place next to the Forest Lane Elementary School Garden (rain location: MHS Varsity Gym).

The Ethel Everhard Memorial Library in Westfield is celebrating its recent renovations with a Grand Opening, celebrating 50 years of the library. All are welcome to attend the event, which runs from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the library. There will be live music, cake, coffee, punch, and tours of the newly renovated library.

The Montello High School Class of 2022 will take part in their graduation ceremony this Saturday, May 28th, beginning at 2:00 pm in the high school gym.

The class is led by Valedictorian Courtney Gardner and Salutatorian Nathan Barganz. 

The Auxiliary of VFW Post 6003 would like to give a big thanks to Commander Tim Donohue and the rest of the members for hosting a luncheon for their Auxiliary’s 75th Anniversary on Saturday, May 14th, and also for the great plaque. Pictured are Jane Bynum District, 7 Jr.
