The Honorable Marquette County Circuit Judge Chad Hendee was given the Hero Award this year at the Wisconsin Association of Treatment Court Professionals’ yearly conference. WATCP uses this award to honor outstanding professionals in the treatment court field.

Mid-State Technical College announced awards given at the 2022 SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference.  Receiving a Gold Medal in Criminal Justice was Montello’s Brittany Beahm, Dispatch/Jailer with the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office.  

On Friday, August 5th, 2022, at 3:10 p.m., the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office received several 911 calls for a multiple vehicle crash with injuries west of Montello on STH 23 in the Town of Packwaukee.  A pickup truck traveling eastbound attempted to negotiate a curve, crossed the centerline, and struck a silver van and a small pickup truck,

Immanuel Lutheran Church of Westfield presents its 28th annual Fish Boil on Friday, August 5. Serving will be from 4:30-7:30 p.m. at the church located at 210 S. Charles St. The cost is $10 per person. Tickets are available by calling 608-296-2088 and will also be available at the door. 

On Monday, July 18, the Coloma Lions installed the officers for 2022-23.  The Coloma Lions have been active in the community for 50 years.  In fact, they will proudly celebrate their 50-year anniversary at the Community Appreciation Picnic on Monday, August 15.

The Westfield School Board met on July 20 where they discussed a donation from the Brakebush Family Foundation and construction updates on the high school building.

On Saturday July 30th, Heritage Days celebration will return to Packwaukee’s Washington Square Park. There will be many activities taking place throughout the day including a gun raffle, bucket raffles, food and beverages, a bags tournament, dunk tank, free inflatable rides and other activities for the kids. 

Governor Tony Evers visited Marquette-Adams Telephone Co-op in Oxford last Thursday, July 14th, to hold a roundtable discussion on rural broadband in the county. He was joined by a number of citizens and business/organization representatives who were positively impacted by the broadband services that Marquette-Adams offers.

The Montello School District welcomed a new but familiar District Administrator at the start of July, with the District Director of Teaching and Learning Elizabeth Tierney Calnin stepping up to take the role. The Marquette County Tribune sat down with her last week to discuss the new position and the plans she has moving forward.

The final steer sold at the Marquette County Fair Youth Meat Animal Auction on Friday, July 8th, was exhibited by Olivia Zuehls, daughter of Zeb and Melanie Zuehls from Montello. Olivia chose to donate 25% of her profits to Budda-Box Fight Against Cancer of Marquette County in memory of her late grandfather, Phil Nelson.
